Ringo, who is on the road with his All Starr Band, wanted to make sure there was no misunderstanding about how he felt about his home city.
He said: “I was back in Liverpool last summer, playing at the Empire. My auntie Ev is 94 and she was dancing there with my daughter. It was all good family fun.”
Ringo kicked off his latest outing with an All Starr Band that features Todd Rundgren, Steve Lukather of Toto, Gregg Rolie of Journey and Santana, Richard Page of Mr Mister, Mark Rivera and Gregg Bissonette.
This August will mark the 50th anniversary of him joining the Beatles, but he said: “It was a wonderful time but it was so long ago. I’m doing this now.”
His 13th tour started at the Niagara Falls Fallsview Casino on Thursday and ends at the Greek Theatre in LA on July 21.
