Speaking at BBC Radio 1’s Teen Awards, Styles told the Daily Star: “We watched that film of The Beatles when they first touched down in America and we saw a real likeness with our personalities.”
Fellow bandmate Niall Horan, added: “They loved having a laugh like us.”
One Direction have enjoyed success on both sides of the Atlantic and find themselves torn between the UK and US.
Styles said: “When we’re in America I’d say home is London, and when we’re back here we feel like home is there. It’s a bit weird.”
Meanwhile, One Direction swept the board at the award ceremony picking up gongs for Best British Album, Best British Single and Best British Music Act
After the event, Horan tweeted: “Yesssss! We won best british album at #teenawards thank you soo much guys! Love.”
