Paul McCartney Contributes Christmas Classic for Upcoming "Holidays Rule" Compilation

A new Paul McCartney track is among the yuletide tunes featured on an upcoming compilation titled Holidays Rule that will be released by Starbucks’ Hear Music label. The collection arrives in stores on October 30 and features unique versions of a range of Christmas classics as well as a few songs for New Year’s Eve.
McCartney contributes a jazzy version of the Mel Torme-penned classic “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire),” which sounds like it was recorded during the sessions for his recent standards album, Kisses on the Bottom. The album also features a rendition of the ex-Beatles legend’s “Wonderful Christmastime” by acclaimed indie rockers The Shins.
Among the other artists featured on Holidays Rule are New Orleans soul great Irma Thomas, Canadian singer/songwriter Rufus Wainwright and alt-pop stars fun. Audio clips of all the songs on the album can be heard online.
