Ex-Wings Guitarist Henry McCullough Suffers Brain Damage Following Heart Attack

 

Henry McCullough, former guitarist for Paul McCartney’s post-Beatles group Wings, may not recover fully after suffering a heart attack in November. In an interview with Something Else, McCullough’s friend and former bandmate Denny Seiwell said that McCullough had “suffered significant brain damage.”

McCullough joined Paul McCartney’s band after a stint with Joe Cocker which included the singer’s legendary performance at Woodstock. He played with Wings from the band’s inception until 1974, when he quit during the fractious recording sessions for the band’s mega-selling Band On The Run. His work can be heard on one album, Red Rose Speedway, as well as the singles “Hi Hi Hi” and “Live and Let Die.”
Seiwell said that while McCullough’s friends, including his partner Josie, remain hopeful for his recovery, “the doctors…don’t think he’s going to have much of a recovery. He’s going to need constant care for the rest of his life.”
McCullough’s official website has yet to be updated about the guitarist’s condition. Paul McCartney has not made any statement about his former bandmate’s status.
