John Lennon’s artwork on display this weekend

 

John Lennon fans are in for a rare treat this weekend —  some of the legendary musician’s artwork will be on display at a free showing at BlackRapid, a camera-accessories business in lower Queen Anne.
The drawings include Lennon’s self-portrait, featured in the 1988 documentary “Imagine: John Lennon,” and his drawing “Honeymoon” that depicts Lennon and Yoko Ono in Gibraltar, the Seattle Times reported.
The collection of Lennon’s art work is in Seattle thanks to former San Diego record-store owner, Richard Horowitz, the paper said.
Horowitz came up with the idea for an artwork tour in 1990 and got Ono’s blessing for it. BlackRapid’s founder and owner Ron Henry saw Lennon’s artwork and worked with Horowitz to get the exhibit to come to Seattle .
This weekend’s show is free to the public but Lennon’s artwork is for sale, with prices ranging from $300 to $20,000, the Times reported.
Ono said of Lennon’s artwork, “his sense of humor is coming through much more than in his songs” and that she sees a facet of his personality at play in his quick-sketch work that isn’t as apparent in his music.
