The book revolves around young friends in the 1950s and ’60s who are mightily influenced by the legendary British band “The Beatles” at the time. Directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg hope to get the rights to use The Beatles’ music in the film.
“The process is looking very positive,” Sandberg told newspaper Dagsavisen last week. “We just have to have faith that (former Beatle and songwriter) Paul McCartney will say ‘yes.’ We won’t even speculate on what we’ll do if he says ‘no.’ We like challenges.”
Rønning and Sandberg enjoyed major success with the film Max Manus, about the resistance hero by the same name, and now are heading for even bigger success with Kon-Tiki. They hope to start filming Beatles next spring.
