Indiewire is reporting that McCartney played on at least two instrumental pieces, which were composed by Etienne Charry. before moving on to feature films, Gondry was an accomplished music video director, having worked with, among others, the Rolling Stones, Donald Fagen and Sheryl Crow. He also directed the video for McCartney’s 2007 mandolin-infused hit, ‘Dance Tonight.’
McCartney is no stranger to having his music heard on the silver screen. In 1966, he composed the score for ‘The Family Way,’ and, in 1984, wrote all the music for ‘Give My Regards to Broad Street.’ More recently, he collaborated on ‘Cut Me Some Slack’ with Dave Grohl for ‘Sound City.’ The Beatles also appeared and sang in a handful of films, too.
Based on Boris Vian’s 1947 book, ‘Froth on the Daydream’ and named after a Duke Ellington classic, ‘Mood Indigo’ is scheduled to open in France and Belgium on April 24. The film does not have an American distributor yet.
