Grammy-nominated songwriter inspired by The Beatles

Grammy-nominated pianist David Lanz is renowned for his song writing and on Sept. 28, he stopped by 9NEWS to talk with 9NEWS Anchor Kyle Dyer about how he got into music as well as his style of play.
"I'm a true American. I started with rock n' roll and then had classical lessons, and I've gotten into jazz, blues and country music. But it was really the Beatles that got me going at the age of 13," Lanz said.
Lanz talked about how he redid two Beatles albums and how listening to them made him rethink how he wanted to play music. He specializes in a specific style of music called "heavy mellow," otherwise known as new-age - which is known for its slow soothing melodies.
Lanz is performing at a sold out concert in Colorado Springs on Sept. 28 as well as doing a music workshop at 3 p.m. at Rockley Music and then a performance at 7 p.m.
