Man Selling Fake Beatles Memorabilia Sentenced To Two Years In Prison

 

A Portland man has been sentenced to prison for two years for selling bootleg Beatles merch on Craigslist. According to the Oregonian, Chad Richard Baldwin, 41, went to the trouble of forging letters of authenticity to dupe purchasers.

The prosecutor in the case said that one buyer gave Baldwin $700 for a Beatles album with fake autographs. It is not clear which album was the subject of the scheme.
Baldwin's nefarious deeds did not stop with Beatles memorabilia: he was also found guilty of selling a baseball purportedly signed by Roger Maris.
Baldwin entered into a plea agreement that saw the counterfeiting charges dropped; in return, he pled guilty to two counts of identity theft. In addition to the 26 month jail term, he has been ordered to repay his victims.
