Stella McCartney tweaks Beatles' noses red for UK charity event

The Beatles and Stella McCartney are a central part of this year's Red Nose Day charity event in the UK which is just kicking off and runs through March 15, it was announced Thursday.
Red Nose Day is a special annual event in the UK featuring people wearing, you guessed it, red noses to raise money for charity to help people in the UK and Africa. In the UK, the money is used to provide shelter to young people living on the streets and protection for those living with domestic abuse. In Africa, the funds raised battle malaria and provides communities with fresh water and vaccines.
Stella McCartney designed this year's special shirts featuring the Beatles with red noses. (See slide show.) "I admire the Red Nose Day Team and their achievement for this incredible worthwhile cause," McCartney told Vogue UK. "To be able to be a small part of supporting that, is extremely rewarding." McCartney and One Direction are two of the celebrities involved in this year's campaign.
The shirts are available only in the UK through T.J. Maxx stores and online. The Red Nose Day site says it will not deliver outside the UK. But a spokesman for Red Nose Day said U.S. residents still may be able to order them from the T.J. Maxx or RedNoseDay.com site. It doesn't hurt to try.
The campaign culminates on March 15 when BBC-TV features “Red Nose Night,” hosted by a large group of British comics.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Red Nose Day. Two years ago, both Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr spoofed themselves in a video made especially for Red Nose Day.
