For one night only, the award-winning Beatles musical "In My Life" will play Sunday at the Art Kamangar Center at the Merced Theatre.
The musical retells The Beatles' story through the eyes of manager Brian Epstein and features the live music of renowned tribute band Abbey Road.
The show starts 7 p.m. May 5 at the Art Kamangar Center at the Merced Theatre, 301 W. Main St. Tickets are $29 to $39 and may be purchased online at www.mercedtheatre.org or by calling (209) 381-0500. Show organizers said the Modesto High School String Quartet will be performing three ballads on stage with the touring musicians. The troupe frequently invites local high school quartets to join them on stage, they said. The show offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse at one of the world's greatest rock bands.
"In My Life" captures key moments in The Beatles' career, giving audiences a front-row seat to pivotal events and venues such as Liverpool's legendary Cavern Club, The Ed Sullivan Show, Shea Stadium, Abbey Road Studios and the final live performance on the rooftop of their Apple Corp. offices.
With manager Brian Epstein serving as narrator, "In My Life" gives audiences an uncensored look inside the world of the Beatles from their point of view.
The four musicians and actors cast to play John, Paul, George and Ringo were selected from 220 Beatle tribute musicians.
The nationally touring musical is widely considered as one of the most unique Beatles shows. It sold out Warnors Theatre in Fresno in 2011 and played Tower Theatre in Fresno last year.
