Fab Four live on in this magical show

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of their first number one single, the live concert show The Magic Of The Beatles is coming to Derby’s Assembly Rooms.

In 1963, the single Please Please Me launched John, Paul, George and Ringo’s chart-topping career.
It announced the arrival of a band that was to become the biggest-selling recording artists in the world.
During the Sixties, the Fab Four’s live shows saw fan hysteria never seen before or since – leading to the coining of the phrase “Beatlemania”.
”The Magic of the Beatles superbly recreates these legendary live performances, and more,” said show producer Michael Taylor.
The show promises to transport music fans from The Beatles’ Mop Top roots to the psychedelia of Sgt Pepper and beyond, from Love Me Do to Let It Be.
”Fantastic costumes, brilliant vocals and incredible musicianship Come Together in a lavish Magical Musical trip back to Yesterday,” said Michael Taylor.
”Please Please Me was The Beatles’ very first number one hit and was the genesis of the greatest band in the world.
“50 years on, this fantastic show ensures the Fab Four’s incredible musical legacy lives on. . . live and in concert.”
The Magic of the Beatles is a two-hour spectacular featuring superb costumes and a cast of skilled musicians and singers.
“It authentically recreates the live concert shows of John, Paul, George and Ringo that generated fan hysteria never seen before or since.”
The production has been on a UK-wide tour and visits towns and even, in some cases, venues that presented The Beatles during the early Sixties.
The Magic of the Beatles retraces The Beatles’ infamous live shows and offers an insight into Beatlemania at its height.
It boasts that it takes audiences from The Beatles’ Mop Top roots to the psychedelia of Sgt Pepper and beyond.
“The Magic of the Beatles is the band’s greatest, best-loved hits performed live – from Love Me Do to Let it Be,” says Michael.
Unarguably the greatest band in the world, ever, the cast choose from a set list comprising of more than 50 million-selling hits for each show.
Who could have imagined just what was to come when the world was introduced to The Beatles in 1960? Transferring their incredible live shows from residencies in Hamburg to the now-famous Cavern Club, they were eventually discovered by Brian Epstein and signed by George Martin.
The rest is the most important chapter of pop music history.
The show can be seen at Derby’s Assembly Rooms on Thursday, May 16, at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £20. You can call the box office for ticket details on 01332 255 800 or go to www.derbylive.co.uk
